Recap: Read More Books in 2019, Become a Skilled Reader, TED Talks and More

This post is a recap of the blog posts I wrote since the year started. You will see how to read more books in 2019, how to become a skilled reader, TED Talks about reading and books, professional book clubs, and a lot more. In case you missed any, you can click on any of the links below. I joined Sarah Arrow’s 30-Day Blogging Challenge because I wanted to develop the habit of blogging regularly again.

Last year I was sick a lot so I did not write a lot of original posts. This impacted my traffic and I lost more that half of my daily traffic. I cannot focus on traffic because it will create a lot of stress for me and I do not want to be sick all the time again. My focus is to write posts that will solve problems for my reader.

The other thing is that because I was sick so much, I lost my ability to focus when reading books that deal with serious topics. I created a mini reading challenge to get my reading groove back. You will notice that there are a few book reviews. You will notice a lot of book reviews on The Invisible Mentor blog because they are a part of the foundation of this site.

Here are the blogs posts that I have written since the start of 2019.

Strategic Reading Challenge: Get Skills You Need to Thrive in 2020: I created the Strategic Reading Challenge to help professionals learn the key skills that the World Economic Forum says you need to thrive in 2020. The organization conducts its Future of Jobs report regularly, and recently it released the skills they think you will need for 2022. You will learn what the skills are and the Strategic Reading Challenge will help you to learn them.

The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware Book Three in Getting Reading Groove Back: This is not quite a review of The Woman in Cabin 10, but I do share my thoughts about the book. I raise my concerns about certain types of characters and you get to see a part of my personality. More importantly, you can decide for yourself if you want to read the book. You will get a taste of what the book is about.

Bossypants by Tina Fey Book Two in Getting Reading Groove Back: This is an autobiography and it will make you laugh. Tina Fey addresses some serious topics in her book, but she does so in a witty way. I loved the Saturday Night Live skits and some of the advice that she gives.

8 TED Talks About Reading and Books: Many people like to watch TED Talks, so I picked out a few that deal with books and reading effectively. I hope that you will find a couple that you can learn from.

Why You Should Read More of the Right Books in 2019: My personal philosophy is that more professionals need to read more books. But I do not often concentrate on why you need to read more books. I talk about this in this blog posts and I share personal examples with you.
